
Krzysztof Pyrć
Krzysztof Pyrć is President of the Foundation for Polish Science, full professor at the Jagiellonian University. A scientist, virologist, and manager; Founder and Head of the Virology Laboratory at the Jagiellonian University; Leader of the Virogenetics research group; mentor to undergraduate and doctoral students. He has authored over 150 scientific publications in journals such as Nature, Nature Medicine, Science Translational Medicine, Nucleic Acids Research, and PNAS, collectively cited more than 15,000 times (h-index = 57). He serves as a reviewer and expert for funding agencies in Poland and internationally. In addition to his academic contributions, he is an inventor and holds patents that have led to the establishment of spin-out companies. He has received numerous awards and distinctions for his work. Throughout his career, he has acted as the principal investigator and coordinator for multiple national and international research projects, as well as industry-funded studies. Currently, he serves as an advisor to the Prime Minister of Poland, the European Commission, and the Ministry of Health. In the past, he has also provided guidance to local governments, the Ministry of Science, the Prime Minister, and the President of the Republic of Poland.
