Ivana Gadjanski PhD is Research Associate Professor and Assistant Director for Science at BioSense Institute, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. She graduated from the Faculty of Biology, University of Belgrade as the 1st in the class (2003). She obtained PhD in Neuroscience (summa cum laude -oral presentation) from Georg-August University & Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry, Goettingen, Germany (2007) and worked as a postdoctorate researcher at Ludwig-Maximillian University, Munich, Germany. Ivana then turned to bioengineering field and spent a year as Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Columbia University, USA – Lab for Stem cells and Tissue Engineering (Head: prof. Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic).
Ivana is TED Global Fellow (2012), Young Scientist at World Economic Forum (2014-2015), alumna of the Global Young Academy, former founder of an IT-biotech start-up Pubsonic – web application for interactive graphical presentation of the open-access biomedical data. In BioSense, she is moving further into cellular agriculture field – developing solutions for cultivated meat. Ivana is a grantee of the Good Food Institute and coordinator of Horizon2020 projects DRAGON GA 810755 and IPANEMA GA 872662.
Ivana published 2 books of poetry in Serbian, “Demoni” (“Demons”) and “Klinasto pismo” (“Cuneiform script”). Received the “Strazilovo” award at the literary manifestation “Brankovo kolo” in Sremski Karlovci 2008, for “Klinasto pismo”.
